Iron Swords' War'
On the 7th of October, the entire State of Israel woke to the difficult and painful reality of the massacre visited upon our southern communities. The Public Forum shares in the shock, pain and bereavement.
Our hearts go out to the families of those who were murdered and died defending themselves and others, we prey for the recovery of those wounded and the safe return of those abducted.
These are difficult and complex times for the State and for Israeli society. It is not an exaggeration to say that this is an existential war. The war that was forced upon us leaves our society bleeding and vulnerable, but also determined to win the battle imposed upon us.
Unfortunately, this harsh reality also has a direct impact on the 'out-of-home placement' arena in Israel which includes tens of thousands of children, youth and young people, who live in youth villages, social service boarding schools and foster homes, which operate 24/7 around the country, many in areas directly affected by the conflict.
During this national emergency, 'The Public Forum' is directing all of its energies towards providing immediate assistance to the thousands of children and youth in these frameworks and the staff who are with them.
Precisely in these difficult moments, we are exposed to the secret of the strength and resilience of Israeli society; mutual support and generosity that are revealed in all their glory. This is our opportunity to thank all strategic partners and partners in general, who are contributing to the war effort and stand with us at these moments.
Together we will win.
Emergency Headquarters
For this purpose, we have established an emergency headquarters which will map the immediate needs and challenges that require immediate “first aid”. We are aware that we are in the midst of an “unfolding event”, and therefore we know that the needs will grow and change as the situation unfolds.
Core Activities During the War
Emotional support for those employed in out-of-home placements.
Provision of emergency-humanitarian assistance to the children, youth, and young people lacking family support who are alumni of out-of-home placements, with an emphasis on those in the conflict area or who have been displaced by the conflict.
Respite and enrichment activities through the purchase of respite equipment such as toys, creative materials, activity sets, and more.
Purchase of laptop computers for distance learning for children in out-of-home placements and in foster families.
Assistance in providing recreational and enrichment activities in social service boarding schools.
Please like our Facebook page in order to receive live updates. Likewise, we would be happy for any and all assistance and support whether it be as a volunteer or a financial contribution towards the activities we are leading for the hundreds and thousands of children, youth and youth people in the out-of-home placement arena, with an emphasis on those in direct areas of conflict.
